Governing bodies have to decide things from principle rather than making
on-the-fly decisions based on practicalities.

Principles are objective, while people's assessment of practicalities
are subjective.

You can't drive through a red light just because you are in more of a
hurry
than the guy going the other way.  Maybe he wouldn't even mind, if you
asked him.
That doesn't matter, because you can't know who else might also be
coming to that 
intersection, that knows the rules, and is expecting you to stop and him
to go.

I know you know this and you know I know you know this.
You have successfully made your point.  Now follow it up the right way
at the
next AGM and see if the hobby really does want age restrictions imposed.
